Thomas S. Schulenberg
Tom ha estudiado las aves de Perú desde 1977, y ha viajado por todo el país. Siempre está dispuesto a volver! Es uno de los autores del libro "Birds of Peru", ha descrito varias especies nuevas para la ciencia en el Perú, y fue la autoridad taxonómica de la Clements Checklist y eBird durante muchos años. También es editor de la revista Neotropical Birding.
Tom has been studying the birds of Peru since 1977, and traveled throughout the country, and is always ready to return. One of the authors of “A Field Guide to the Birds of Peru”, he has described several new species to science from Peru, and was the taxonomic authority of the Clements Checklist and eBird for several years. He is also Editor for the publication Neotropical Birding.
Tom ha estudiado las aves de Perú desde 1977, y ha viajado por todo el país. Siempre está dispuesto a volver! Barry Walker
Barry lleva 45 años investigando y estudiando aves en todos los rincones de Perú, encontrando alrededor de una docena de nuevas especies para el pais. Ha escrito numerosos artículos sobre aves del país, es autor de "Aves de Machu Picchu y la región Cusco" y "Peruvian Wildlife - A visitors guide to the Central Andes". Es pionero del turismo ornitológico en Perú como fundador de la empresa Manu Expeditions y guía viajes especializados en aves desde hace más de 25 años.
Barry has been researching and studying birds in every corner of Peru for 45 years, finding around a dozen new species for Peru, has written many articles on birds of the country, is author of “Birds of Machu-Picchu and the Cusco Region” and “Peruvian Wildlife – A visitors guide to the Central Andes”. He is a pioneer of bird tourism in Peru as founder of Manu Expeditions and leading specialized bird tours for over 25 years.

Dan Lane
Dan Lane es un guía de tours de observación de aves y artista/naturalista que se ha especializado en las aves de Perú durante los últimos 30 años. Es coautor y artista en el equipo que produjo la guía de campo "Birds of Peru". Es autor de varios artículos científicos sobre las aves del Perú. Además, Dan ha participado en múltiples expediciones, visitando muchos rincones de Perú en un esfuerzo por aprender más sobre su destacada avifauna, descubriendo varias especies nuevas para la ciencia en el proceso.

Manuel worked in the Logistic Division of a North American mining company limiting his outings to weekends near Lima. In his spare time, he concentrated on researching where ornithologists, investigators and others published on Peruvian birds. He then endeavored to obtain printed copies, reprints, xerox copies, and lately pdf copies of literature pertaining to Peruvian avifauna. This led to the mammoth work “Bibliography of the birds of Peru”. Manuel has attended various National Ornithological Congresses, as well as several seminars and conferences abroad. He is co-author of the first ever list of a Peruvian bird “An annotated checklist of Peruvian birds”. In 2023 Manuel was named a Fellow of the American Ornithological Society.

Alfredo Begazo
Alfredo ventured to the United States to pursue graduate studies at the University of Florida. Currently serving as a biologist/ornithologist with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Florida, he regularly commutes between the state and a new region of Peru. Alfredo is a student of Peruvian birds, placing particular emphasis on their natural history. He has published scientific papers on wildlife management and ornithology. Alfredo is the person behind AvesdePeru.org, a website he created and manages, providing a platform for the dissemination and knowledge of the Birds of Peru.

Jacob Socolar
Jacob Socolar began studying birds in Peru as a field assistant in 2007, and went on to work and publish extensively on the biogeography, distributional ecology, and conservation of Peru's birds with a particular focus on Amazonia. He is most at home in the forests of lowland Loreto department, but has participated in bird surveys and expeditionary work across multiple corners of the country. Now serving as lead NBS scientist for BeZero, a carbon credit ratings firm, he is always eager for time in the field. If not in the field, you might encounter him as one of your friendly eBird reviewers, a job through which he vicariously enjoys the successes of ongoing Peruvian fieldwork.

Mauricio Ugarte-Lewis
Biólogo y observador de aves, especialista en técnicas de monitoreo de aves y anillador y entrenador certificado por la NABC (North American Banding Council), es curador de la colección ornitológica del Museo de Historia Natural de la Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa (MUSA). Ha realizado exploraciones con fines científicos en todo el territorio nacional. Su foco de estudio es la ecología taxonomía y el análisis de la muda de aves neotropicales. Miembro de la Unión de Ornitólogos del Perú).
