LAST TRAVEL AWARDS DEADLINE: AUGUST 1, 2017
Limited funds are available for students from the Western Hemisphere and Latin American professionals engaged in the study of shorebirds wishing to present their work at the Seventh Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group Meeting (7WHSG) in Paracas, Perú. The travel awards will be for people working on shorebirds in the Western Hemisphere.
Applicants may be selected for travel awards only if:
(1) If being a student, go to college (pre-graduate or post-graduate) or have graduated just before the event.
(2) If being a professional, be from Latin America.
(3) Have submitted an abstract for an oral or poster presentation for the event.
(4) Will be the speaker of the oral or poster presentation.
Travel awards will be awarded ONLY to students or professionals who are co-authors of the work, as long as they are speakers at the event. Travel awards may include registration fees, air tickets, accommodation and a maximum of U$S 150 for meals during the five-day event.

Important information to apply for a Travel Award:
- Travel awards will be awarded considering (1) that they are enrolled and have submitted a high quality abstract for an oral or poster presentation, (2) ability to disseminate knowledge gained at the event in their place of origin, (3) previous, current and future work related with shorebirds, (4) have little or no institutional support to attend the event.
- Proposals that do not comply with the sending of:
- Extended abstract: Must have a minimum of 500 words and can be sent in Spanish or English.
- Letter of Intent: It should be only one page and explain why you want to attend 7WHSG, how you plan to share the knowledge / experience gained with your participation when you return to your home site, tell us about your current, past and potential work with shorebirds, and the efforts that you have made to obtain other funds.
- Curriculum Vitae: It must be two pages and in pdf format. With the file name as "CV Last Name" (e.g. Tapia CV.pdf). For students, please ask your teacher, mentor, or tutor to send a short email (2-3 sentences at most) to Richard Lanctot ([email protected]) confirming your student status and agreeing with what you say in your application.
- There is limited money available for travel awards, so there is a possibility that not all proposals will be accepted. We suggest looking for additional funds.

- IF YOU WANT TO ENSURE THE EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION COST, YOU CAN REGISTER AND PAY UNTIL JUNE 30. IF YOU OBTAIN A TRAVEL AWARD, YOUR REGISTRATION COST WILL BE REIMBURSED IN PARACAS.
